El Viso is a district of the district of Chamartín, located in the north-eastern part of the city of Madrid. It takes its name from the historic colonia built in the period 1933-1936 by architect Rafael Bergamín Gutiérrez (Generation of '25) with the collaboration of Luis Felipe Vivanco.2 The colonia is an example of Madrilenian rationalism (as were some of the buildings of the faculties of the Ciudad Universitaria).3 It is made up of two-storey detached houses, many of which were inhabited by intellectuals of the time. Today, the neighbourhood includes, along with El Viso, the former Parque Residencia and Iturbe IV neighbourhoods.
