The "Santa María" Teacher Training School was created by Order of 28 July 1961 (BOE. of 19 August 1961) for two main reasons: to relieve congestion at the "María Díaz Jiménez" School and to ensure that there was another School in Madrid, in another location, which was Ronda de Toledo nº 9. This school was reserved for women and was created as Escuela de Magisterio femenino.
